Abstract
CARBALLO-OTERO, Orestes F.; CARRAZ-HERNANDEZ, Orlando R. and PEREZ-VAZQUEZ, Ramón G.. Forecast of a new Pb and Zn sulfide deposit at Matahambre-Mella mining district in Cuba. Min. Geol. [online]. 2022, vol.38, n.3, pp. 223-232. Epub Sep 30, 2022. ISSN 1993-8012.
Because of the reinterpretation of VTEMPlus aero-electromagnetic flight, carried out in 2013 at Ls Alturas de Pizarras del Norte in Pinar del Río province, a new Pb and Zn sulfide deposit is predicted at Matahambre-Mella mining district, at a depth of about one hundred meters and with 10,4 million tons of ore in the category of speculative resources. The pretended deposit, called Orilda, does not match with known mineralization or with the previously selected anomalies, linked to the B3 anomaly, which stands out for its time constant of 4,56 ms and its concurrence with other prospecting criteria. It is recommended to carry out a terrestrial exploration to verify the mining potential of this anomaly and to examine especially the area adjacent to the SE of its epicenter, with the coordinates Lambert North Cuba System: X: 198 455, Y: 307 946.
