Abstract
REYES-CABRERA, Yaimaris et al. Chemical characterization of soils for agricultural land at an agri-food production sector in Moa municipality. Min. Geol. [online]. 2023, vol.39, n.1, pp. 44-54. Epub Mar 31, 2023. ISSN 1993-8012.
Agricultural soils at Los Pinos Basic Production Unit were chemically evaluated from Centeno Moa municipality. Sampling was carried out at depths of 20 cm and 40 cm; four samples were formed from the mix of 15 sub-samples taken in a zigzag pattern in each growing area. The pH was determined by the electrometric method; by atomic, the content of Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, Na+ and N+ by absorption spectrophotometry. The result showed that soils of this unit are acidic and the excess of Mg shifts the Ca/Mg and K/Mg ratios to values lower than the minimum acceptable. Furthermore, Ca2+, K+, Na+ and N+ are the major elements and classified as very poor, while minority elements are above the admissible values, all of which negatively influences the proper development of plants. This led to proposing a plan of measures to increase the low natural fertility of these soils.
