Abstract
GUTIERREZ ROJAS, Iván Ramón; DE LA NUEZ RAMOS, Eva and ESPINOSA PONCE, Yurisan. Towards a developmental university in the health system. Infodir [online]. 2022, n.39 Epub Dec 01, 2022. ISSN 1996-3521.
Introduction:
The guarantee of progress and sustainability of a medical university, constitutes a complex task, which like Higher Education itself and Health Systems, demands an innovative vision and intentional efforts of the managers and the rest of the professionals in those institutions.
Objective:
To present, with a holistic approach, recommendations that contribute to the construction of developmental universities in the health system.
Development:
Based on the renovating ideas of the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and the results of the research carried out by the authors of this article, recommendations are issued on the necessary and pertinent recognition of these high centers of study as developmental entities, in which science and innovation play a leading role. In these, it is necessary to count, intentionally, with the internalization by all the actors, and especially by their directors, of the objectives that they should achieve in professional training and postgraduate education and in the impacts that both their scientific results and the training of human resources produce in favor of society.
Conclusions:
The success and development capacity of a medical university should be achieved with the intentionality of the strategic projection of all processes, in the exercise of a leadership supported by capabilities and professional ethics. To this end, efforts should be directed, with a holistic approach, towards the consistent achievement of this objective, by specifying as a substantive element, the training in scientific and research management of university managers. A permanent dialogic activity of these with the scientific bodies should contribute to the enhancement of a professional culture that sustains the quality of the substantive processes of higher education.
