Resumen

GONZALEZ ROBAINA, Felicita; HERRERA PUEBLA, Julián; LOPEZ SEIJAS, Teresa  y  CID LAZO, Greco. Irrigation response of sorghum in two growth seasons. Crop water production function. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2011, vol.20, n.1, pp. 40-46. ISSN 2071-0054.

The study of the crop water production function is an important strategy to increase water productivity. Using a data base of two experiments carried out at the Station located in Alquizar at south of Havana Province (red ferralitic soils), with the help of regression tools, the different expression of the crop water production function and the water productivity (WP) of the sorghum was estimated . The lineal model was better adjustment for the relationship between evapotranspiration and grain yield for sorghum, with a coefficient of determination of 0,81 and an efficiency of 6 kg of sorghum grain for every additional millimeter of water . While the function yield versus total water is of curvilinear nature, using a polynomial of second order is calculated . If it is achieved the goal of satisfying in more than 80% water requirement of this cultivation, yields could overcome 4 000 kg/ha. When relating, relative value yields and evapotranspiration a slope equal to 0,59 was obtained, which classifies as a crop of weak and average response to water . The yield response factor of the sorghum in this study was 0,62 lower than 0,9 reported in the literature . Every cubic meter of consumed and total water used in sorghum produce as average 1,15 and 0,73 kg, respectively. The maximum productivity was obtained with 3620 m3/ha of total water in winter.

Palabras clave : water productivity; deficit irrigation.
