This research was developed in the basic unit of rural production, "El Palmar", belonging to the Company of Mixed Cultivations “Paquito Rosales Benítez” in the municipality of Yara (Granma, Cuba) during the period from April (2007)-January (2008). The investigative-analytic method was used to evaluate the farm groups (tractor-agricultural implements) employed while preparing the agricultural land to cultivate roots and tubers. There were carried out 30 control observations for each one of the farm groups to evaluate the fuel consumption. The real indexes of fuel consumption to each group, as well as to each farm task the during land reclamation on a fluvisoil were determined. The smallest consumption of fuel (14,9 L ha^-1) was showed during the ploughing with the farm group T-150 K tractor and the Modified Subsoiler Bayamo.
