Abstract

AGUALIMPIA, Yolima del C.  and  CASTRO MENDEZ, Carlos Enrique. Capacity of reservation of water in the soils of the north border of Bogotá. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.1, pp.55-61. ISSN 2071-0054.

This information corresponds to partial results of the research that is developed on hydrodynamic processes that affect the soils of the plateau of Bogotá - Colombia and whose main purpose is the calculation and interpretation of the reserve capacity of water in the soils of the Reserva Forestal del Borde Norte de Bogotá, in order to investigate the susceptibility to desertification that have its approximately 1,600 hectares. The analysis was performed with 407 field-collected and geo-referenced data and 17 soil profiles described in the area. As a result of this analysis, seventeen hydrological areas were defined according to morpho-pictorial sectoring, based on the description of several soil profiles within the same geomorphological unit. Natural compaction some of layers soils was found as limiting the storage capacity of the soil and these results were compared with the natural moisture to verify the degree of densification that affects them. It also made the description of pore geometry and its effect on soil moisture retention.

Keywords : Hydrodynamic process; desertification; hydrologic area; geomorphic position; soil profile.
