Abstract
ALONSO-BRITO, Gustavo Reinel. Probabilistic prediction of discharge and sediment yield for extreme events. Part II: Case study. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2016, vol.25, n.4, pp. 4-16. ISSN 2071-0054. http://dx.doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.13601.61288.
The objective of this study is to show a case study application of the blue print methodology for probabilistic prediction of discharge and sediment yield under extreme events, which was published in previous volumes of this Journal. The study focus on “V Aniversario” basin, which is located in the Cuyaguateje River Basin, Pinar del Río Province, west of Cuba. Using site-based rainfall, discharge and sediment series, and landuse and soil information the KINEROS (K2) model was calibrated and validated. The extreme maxima in the area fitted a theoretical probability distribution EV type II - Fréchet. Results of the hydrological response predictions for a 50-year return event are also shown in this paper
Keywords : hydrological prediction; KINEROS2; extreme analysis; rainfall disaggregation.
