Background: the implementation of Information Literacy Program of the National Health System in Cuba has as objective to improve the performance of health workers, as well as, to increase the quality of services. Objective: to evaluate the experiences reached in Villa Clara with the implementation of Information Literacy Program of the Cuban Health System. Methods: a descriptive research with a qualitative approach with carried out from 2007 to 2014. There were used theoretical methods such as, analytic-synthetic, historical-logical, systemic-structural; and empirical methods such as documentary analysis, questionnaire survey to leaders and interview survey to informants. Results: the bibliography referred to this theme is insufficient and theoretical postulates are inapplicable to practice, there are deficiencies in the pedagogical preparation of leaders, as well as, affectation of the integration of TICs to teaching process due to many factors. In the case of positive aspects are the preparation of their leaders through training groups, multiplication of their knowledge in municipal and provincial health institutions and realization of motivational workshops. Conclusions: this research allowed us to evaluate, as positive, Villa Clara´s contribution in compliance with Information Literacy Program of the Cuban Health System from 2007 to 2014 according to the experiences that contribute to its development.
