Abstract

Background: the process of professional formation constitutes a great challenge at present due to the dynamic character given by the multiplicity of data to be registered about the students and professionals; it implies the necessity to look for automated options that satisfy this demand. Objective: to design an automated system to improve the quality of the teaching-assistance process in the residence of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Methods: it was carried out a development investigation in "Mariana Grajales" Gineco-obstetric Hospital of Villa Clara, theoretical, empiric and mathematical methods were used, the product was valued according to the specialists' criteria. Results: there were irregularities in the manual elaboration of the teaching-assistance plan in the mentioned residence: disorganization in the planning of some activities, coincidences in certain services of the same resident and it was detected that some residents had not concluded certain rotations in the last year of their studies. Those interviewed coincided in the necessity of creating an automated database to locate all the precise information; for this reason a software was designed. Conclusions: the designed software facilitates the organization and permanent updating of the information of the teaching-assistance plan in an easy way, saving resources and time; the specialists considered it is as pertinent, novel and it offers solution to a necessity of constant improvement of the teaching-learning process, that´s why its application was approved.
