Abstract

DE LA TORRE RODRIGUEZ, Maidelan et al. On line course: Virtual teaching in the medical teaching. EDUMECENTRO [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.1, pp.43-55. ISSN 2077-2874.

Background: the virtual learning has been incorporated to the scenarios of the educational institutions as an answer to the demands and necessities of the new generations that require the formation of a series of competences to cope with a globalized society in reference to information and mass media. Objective: to elaborate an upgrading program for the professors of Villa Clara University of Medical Sciences, to promote the use of virtual teaching. Methods: it was carried out a descriptive study, based on the qualitative approach, from September 2013 to January 2014. The universe comprised 176 professors, the sample comprised 73 professors. Researching methods of the theoretical level were used: the analytic-synthetic, the inductive-deductive and the historical-logical; of the empiric level: the documental analysis, the survey and the specialists´ criteria. Results: the most significant results of the diagnosis showed the necessity to train the teaching staff and to orient the preparation of the professors to use technical and computer resources appropriately in the elaboration and development of virtual courses using the Moodle platform. The designed virtual course was subjected to specialists' criteria. Conclusions: the specialists coincided in the feasibility of the proposal valuing it as favorable, due to its design, structure, theoretical-methodological and pedagogic background.
