Theoretical and empirical methods were used: documentary analysis, questionnaire to nursing staff and questionnaire to experts.

Results:

the application of the questionnaires made it possible to characterize the nursing staff and determine the level of knowledge about palliative care, which was not acceptable to provide adequate care to the patient, in addition, ignorance about the theories and models of Nursing was revealed, due to it an improvement course was designed, valued by experts.
