Abstract

Objectives:

The article explains and argues an approach to teaching literary text comprehension and assessment. The objective is the description of procedures to assess and relate literary text meaning and the subsequent recreation of a new world on that basis.

Methods:

The authors rely on the analysis and synthesis of document, induction and deduction of scientific literature from a historic and logical perspective. Likewise, they depend on observing the students’ performance and experimenting to systematize their teaching practice.

Results:

The main finding of the research is the construction of a theoretical framework for teaching literary text comprehension and assessment as a further step in the hermeneutic circle

Conclusions:

Literary text assessment represents a further step in literary text appreciation, it updates and decontextualizes meanings by regarding reading as a cultural process.
