Objectives:

This paper aims at describing the performance from a socioformative perspective, to promote the oral health of the dentist in training and its assessment by the career teaching staff.

Methods:

A bibliographic study was performed; firstly, in the Dentistry Faculty at the University of Medical Sciences in Camagüey. Theoretical methods: analysis-synthesis and inductive-deductive as well as workshops of critical opinion and collective construction for the proposal estimate from the empirical level were used.

Results:

The main finding is the description performance axes involved in dental health promotion. The epistemic, communicative, technological, socioformative and educational axes summarize the contents of the major.

Conclusions:

The importance of working in order to reach this performance is highlighted for achieving a professional action of dentists in the community and society.
