Abstract

This paper refers to a didactic attempt used in the Oral and Written Communication subject lessons to Law students at the Metropolitan University of Ecuador UMET (by its Spanish acronym), based on the Science- Technology and Society approach (CTS by its Spanish acronym). It involves humanistic subjects in the intention to offer a bit to the efforts towards the preservation and protection of the Environment. It is not a concluded research work result, thus it does not follow the research report steps. The intention is to socialize a teaching experience developed in 6 groups of Law, in their first year of studies at the UMET, specifically in the oral and Written Communication lessons, addressed at dealing with the transversal themes within the lessons to enhance an environmentalist awareness through the students critical analysis of the existing literature about the topic, and writing an essay with the results emerged from their analysis. Both reading and writing techniques are contents of the syllabus, which allow establishing the relationships among the subject, the students´ future profession and the international call to educational institutions to the development of strategies addressed to the enhancement of environmentalist awareness.
