Abstract

AGUILAR AGUILAR, Nancy Lorena  and  MANZANO SOTO, Nuria. Mentoring at the university level: stages for its implementation. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.3, pp. 255-262.  Epub June 02, 2018. ISSN 2218-3620.

Mentoring is a strategy to support new students to effect the academic and social integration of students who move from one educational level to another. The objective of this article is to propose stages for the implementation of mentoring programs. The methodological approach is qualitative, relying on the methods: bibliographical, historical-logical, analytical-synthetic and descriptive. Among the main results, it is emphasized that mentoring is a strategy that is applied informally throughout life and formally when it is planned; as it is also necessary to have stages for the organization of the mentoring program; which allows us to conclude that mentoring contributes in reducing adaptation limitations in new educational scenarios, at the same time avoiding impacts on academic performance, which implies designing mentoring programs organized from: conformation of the mentor team, diagnosis of fresh students income, design, execution, monitoring and evaluation of the mentoring program; each one records details to facilitate the student orientation process.

Keywords : Mentoring; types of mentoring; mentoring program.
