Abstract

This article begins with a brief reflection on the large amount of information that human beings must face on a daily basis and what this implies in their lives. Taking into account the above, a socio-critical thinking approach is carried out as a tool to address the surrounding reality. Therefore, this study carries out a theoretical review that addresses the meaning of this, and the imperative task of the educational field as an active agent in the development of processes to understand reality; In this way, the importance of pedagogy is raised to find ways to consolidate this thinking, and, in turn, Social Sciences are established as a fundamental subject for the formation of socio-critical thinking in intermediate school students in Colombia. In addition, an approach is made the concept of formation as fundamental aspect within the educational perspective to contextualize the characteristics of socio-critical thinking, which have been specified in the question, the reflection, the analysis, the argumentation and the solution of the problems, characteristics that determine it as a construction to understand the daily life, keeping in mind the achievement of social welfare.
