Abstract

The article presents the main results of an investigation directed to the improvement of the process of formation of promoters of healthy lifestyles in the students of the Computer Engineering career of the University of Pinar del Río (UPR). The logic of the investigation transited through various research methods, by the initial diagnosis of the process and the elaboration of the theoretical framework. The theoretical contribution is in the foundations of this process based on the method of health promotion from a holistic approach associated with university extension, which allowed identifying stages through which it takes place in its extracurricular dimensions in the university extension, as well as principles that regulate its operation. Based on the foundations presented, a strategy was designed for its implementation through three specific strategic actions, which resulted in products: Healthy Lifestyles Promoters Training Program; the Training Program for teachers as well as the creation of the Consultancy for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles. The scientific result of the work has a high potential for generalization to higher education centers.
