GARCIA BATISTA, Rigoberto Miguel; QUEVEDO GUERRERO, José Nicasio  and  SOCORRO CASTRO, Alejandro Rafael. Practices for the use of solid waste in banana plantations and results of its implementation. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.1, pp.280-291.  Epub Feb 02, 2020. ISSN 2218-3620.

The generations of waste in the agricultural production processes is notorious. Some plantations contribute more, others less, but in this specific case we will refer to the bananas, where the conduct of the production process generates waste throughout the production cycle, which has been the subject of analysis and evaluation in the present work, the use of rachis, its conversion into biochar, the use of pseudo stem in plantations in the contribution to the more efficient use of nutrients by the plant, the use of traps built from these wastes in the control of picudo, the manufacture of compost, among other advantages, allow us to reduce the polluting loads in these plantations by performing actions that lead to the sustainability of these plantations.

Keywords : Waste use; pollution reduction; sustainability.
