SOLANO APUNTES, Edison Hidalgo; BELEZACA PINARGOTE, Carlos Eulogio; LOPEZ TOBAR, Rolando Manuel and CASTRO VILLARES, Jefferson Javier. Diversity of scolitids in plantations of Tectona Grandis l.f. (teak) in the province of Los Ríos, Ecuador. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.1, pp. 374-380. Epub Feb 02, 2020. ISSN 2218-3620.
The objectives of the research were to identify and determine the diversity of scolitids, abundance and diversity indices associated with Teak plantations at three study sites in the province of Los Ríos, Canbiosca, Rafaelita y la Chorrera. To determine the diversity in the plantations, 36 flight intersection traps were installed at a height of 1.30 meters, above ground level, which were primed with 175 mL of 96 ° alcohol and 75 mL of distilled water, collecting Specimens were performed every eight days during the months of July and August 2018, while, to determine the abundance and diversity indices within the trees, those presenting symptoms of regressive death and vascular wilt were identified, then nine Sick trees per site and sectioned every four meters, later the wood was opened for the collection of insects, which were deposited in jars containing 70 ° alcohol. The identification was carried out in the microbiology laboratory of the State Technical University of Quevedo with the help of a stereomicroscope and dichotomous keys. A total of 3784 scolitids were collected in the plantations.
