Abstract

GONZALEZ SUAREZ, Erenio et al. The impact of considering social problems in the training of doctors in chemical engineering. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.3, pp. 409-417.  Epub June 02, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.

Reflecting on the evaluation of the impact of postgraduate programs in Cuban universities, specifically in doctoral programs, contributes to raising their quality, relevance, and academic excellence. The projection of the impacts they must produce must be achieved through influencing the transformation, sustainable development processes of the territory, and the country, through the effect produced on the spiritual growth, professional performance and social functions of the doctoral student’s graduates. The experience presented here takes as a reference the UCLV doctoral program in Chemical Engineering, which monitors social problems that impact the scientific research they carry out and, in turn, monitors their social impacts through actions whose application occurs during, at the end and after a time after discharge. It concluded that these impacts could measure in three fundamental dimensions: visibility of the doctoral program, recognition and scientific productivity that generated socially.

Keywords : Doctoral program; social impact; social problems of science and technology.
