Abstract

ESTRADA ARAOZ, Edwin Gustavo; PAREDES VALVERDE, Yolanda  and  QUISPE HERRERA, Rosel. Burnout and its relation to the performance of regular basic education teachers. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.4, pp. 361-368.  Epub Aug 02, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.

Burnout is a psychological state that occurs in people who have direct contact with other people and is characterized by the presence of physical and psychological symptoms such as exhaustion and loss of interest in work due to the constant exercise of the profession. Under this premise, this research aimed to determine the relationship between burnout and the performance of regular basic education teachers in the Las Piedras district. The focus was quantitative, non-experimental design and correlational type. The sample consisted of 115 teachers from the initial, primary and secondary levels to whom two data collection instruments were applied: the Occupational Wear Scale and the Teaching Performance Questionnaire, which presented the required reliability and validity. The results found showed that teachers present a moderate level of professional burnout, satisfactory performance, and the existence of an inverse and significant relationship between professional burnout and teacher performance was found (rs= -0.662; p <0.05).

Keywords : Burnout; teaching performance; regular basic education.
