Abstract
BURGO BENCOMO, Odalis Bárbara. Traditional knowledge and ethnobotany in the management of family farming. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.4, pp.431-438. Epub Aug 02, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.
Family farming is a form of production with a strong social and social impact where the set of acquired knowledge is important for its maintenance, so its rescue and conservation is a necessity. The objective of the work was to theoretically substantiate the relationship between traditional and ethnobotanical knowledge as management tools in family farming. The researches consulted showed that this form of agriculture, in addition to a productive process, is also a social process nuanced by the cultural heritage of those who develop it, making it necessary to seize this knowledge and use it as management tools. In relation to this way of producing, traditional knowledge acquires greater importance, since the social context is closer to the productive system and said knowledge, although it is at risk of being lost, can have a more direct impact. Ethnobotany as a science can make valuable contributions in rescuing this knowledge so that it can last and serve as a sustainable management tool. The relationship between traditional and ethnobotanical knowledge is a dialectical, dynamic and ambivalent construction; Combined, they become a powerful tool for the sustainable management of family production systems.
