Abstract

In this research, a study is carried out on the existence of cyber addiction and the consequences it produces in criminology students at a public university in Mexico. For this reason, the concept, causes that produce cyber addiction, types, as well as the consequences found in other studies are explained. Therefore, in order to detect the existence of cyber addiction, a questionnaire was applied to 155 students, the results allow to determine the level of addiction at which they are found and in turn determine effects in areas of social, family, work, virtual type. Importantly, some consequences were determined such as poor school performance, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, it is concluded that cyber addiction is a problem that affects this population and must be adequately addressed. It is suggested that, through teachers and parents, adolescents and young people are prevented, guided and educated for the best use of the Internet and ICT.
