Abstract

ARIAS-CHAVEZ, Dennis et al. Satisfaction with life in times of pandemic: a study in university students in the city of Lima. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.5, pp. 465-471.  Epub Oct 30, 2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

Satisfaction with life is a cognitive component of well-being that derives from the subject's assessment of quality of life based on various criteria. Dealing with new problems whose solution depends largely on the decisions that put into play the development of skills and competencies that help them respond to the demands of the university stage. The objective of this study is to determine life satisfaction in times of pandemic in Lima university students. The composition of the population was 6,400 students, from which a sample of 764 subjects from five (5) universities in the city of Metropolitan Lima was drawn. The instrument applied was the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). The psychometric analysis has an acceptable reliability as well as an optimal construct validity. Regarding the descriptive analysis of the variable, the results show that there is an average level of satisfaction with life, this result being quite worrying when considering that the respondents are young people who should have a higher or high level of satisfaction. It is suggested to prioritize greater attention to this problem as well as to carry out research on this variable with other groups as vulnerable as the university sector.

Keywords : Satisfaction with life; COVID-19; Peruvian university students.
