Abstract

Back chronic pain has a multifaceted etiology. Among its main causes they are included those of psychological and social character so as biomedical. There are patients who may achieve enough clinical improvement with bio-medical treatment, but the experience of the professionals who assist these patients confirm that chronic pain is associated to psychological variables that may be a cause or an aggravating factor. Psychology has developed a great number of techniques and procedures for studying and treating this disease. This work has as objective to promote knowledge of emotional variables related to back chronic pain aimed at achieving a comprehensive management in the assisting process. For that specialized bibliography was consulted, books and other, acceded through the main information managers.
