Abstract
RODRIGUEZ-MARTINEZ, Calixto and LAFARGUE-PEREZ, Francisco. Experimental Comparison of Vegetable and Mineral Based Pils as Lubricants in Tribological Joint Steel-Babbit. RTQ [online]. 2013, vol.33, n.1, pp. 93-101. ISSN 2224-6185.
The decrease in the natural sources, the climate change and the increase of the environmental awareness have made that the renewable base lubricants begin to be considered as an alternative to replace mineral oils. The paper presents the friction behaviour when using as lubricants the Jatropha curcas L vegetable and mineral based oils in tribological joint steel-babbit. Results showed lower friction coefficient and contact temperature values with the use of Jatropha curcasL vegetable oil in comparison with mineral based oil.
