Abstract

DEL-TORO-ALVAREZ, Dania; PONS-HERNANDEZ, Antonio; VIERA-BERTRAN, René  and  EMASABE-MONIER, Zulai. Mathematical Model for a Battery of Five Continuous Reactors with Agitation. Part 1. RTQ [online]. 2014, vol.34, n.1, pp.24-36. ISSN 2224-6185.

This work is in charge of the development of a mathematical model for the simulation of a battery of reactors able to reproduce the behavior of a reacting system non catalytic fluid-solid, in a sequence of five continuous reactors with agitation connected in series, where the concentration of the reactant in the liquid phase changes stage in stage, and the time of residence means is same in all them. The first stage of this work, consisted on the search on the fundamental theoretical elements of the systems non catalytic reacting fluid-solid, of those which, they stand out the application of the center pattern without reacting as the most suitable to explain the step of predominant reaction and the effect of the concentration on the time of complete reaction of the particles, independent of the step that controls the process. Later on, the expressions of the distribution of times of residences were developed for a battery of five reactors, for the cases in that the time of residence means is same in the stages and when it is different in each one of them. Then, it was demonstrated that the fraction not converted average of a particle size (Îj) it depends on the relationship (t i / tpn) and not of their individual values, fact that solves the employment of this expression, when the concentration of the reactant in the liquid phase is not it is same in all the stages.

Keywords : neutralization; residence time; time of complete reaction.
