Abstract
GUZMAN ARMENTEROS, Tania María; PEREZ CHAMORRO, Olga and VALDES PEREZ, Oderlaise. Biodegradation of solid urban waste by using microbian starter and static biofilter of Eisenia foétida. RTQ [online]. 2020, vol.40, n.1, pp. 81-92. ISSN 2224-6185.
The effects of the relationship between the variables: concentration of starter culture, time of exposure and temperatura, in the process of biodegradation of urban solid waste under controlled conditions was investigated, by using static vermicelite from Eisenia foétida. A factorial design 23 extended to a Central Composite Design (DCC) was used and as response variables: the biodegradation ratio (BOD/COD). It was found a significant influence of the concentration ratio of the starter culture and the time of exposure in the biodegradation process, obtaining two second-order response surface models, validated statistically by ANOVA. The model explains 96% the Biodeterioration variable change from the BOD/COD ratio. Maximum efficiency of the system was achieved with a concentration culture of 2,5% for a period of 96 days at a temperature of 32ºC, conditions where a greater adjustment of the results of the model with a higher biodegradation ratio and a lower content of chemical and organic contaminants in the output effluent.
