ABSTRACT It is known that the hybrid PET / CT scanner has high levels of sensitivity and specificity to detect lesions in very early stages of various pathologies, with respect to its simple PET (Positron Emission Tomography) and CT (Computerized Tomography) homologs. In order to determine the typical values for the Cuban conditions, both objective and subjective image quality analysis are performed, as well as sensitivity and specificity calculations with a team of national radiologists whose experience comes basically from film radiology and simple CT, As well as Nuclear Medicine, using simple photons. Results are compared to international standards, as a starting point to improve the training of these professionals, for their future performances with PET / CT technology. The PET / CT technique presented better values of Rose Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR Rose) and Image Contrast (Cima) with respect to simple PET and CT techniques. The PET had better Contrast to Noise ratio (CNR). However, the subjective results did not show a good correlation with the previous one, evidencing the need to train the personnel.
