Abstract

MORA, Lorena Díaz  and  MESA, Mirtha Irizar. Diagnostic microarray images processing software. Rev cuba cienc informat [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.4, pp. 42-55. ISSN 2227-1899.

Microarray technology has increased exponentially in the last years, being very used to quantify gene expression levels. Microarray image analysis is one of the necessary tools to evaluate vast amount of biological data simultaneously. This work proposes an image processing software like part of an experiment for molecular diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis, which will identify the mutations, more frequent in Cuba and Latin America, of the Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator. This software consists of three stages: pre-processing and gridding, segmentation and feature extraction. The functional tests carried out with a group of images obtained from diverse diagnostic experiments; they endorse the correct operation of the software for disease diagnosis.

Keywords : Microarray for diagnosis; image processing; gridding; segmentation; intensity extraction..
