GARCES GONZALEZ, Roberto  and  DIAZ HURTADO, Anabel. Community in Local Development Management Through Social Shareholders. Rev retos [online]. 2015, vol.9, n.1, pp.218-238. ISSN 2306-9155.

It was assessed the importance of community in local development management when assuming it as qualities in processes, and community itself as the expression of symmetric bonds that occur within the involved social shareholders. Practical elements from the implementation of municipal initiatives for local development in Remedios, Cuba, were assumed. Methods of observation, document review and interviews were used in this research. It was strengthen Remedios' municipality involvement in processes of local development from the critic and effective social approach of obstacles and potentials. Most of the obstacles distinguished are of subjective matter and reproduce vertical, welfare and sector-directed positions, and little social participation; but the extent of potentials resulted superior to that of obstacles when municipal management is strengthened, managing to promote an harmonic and sustainable local development according to the municipality's own conditions.

Keywords : community; development; bond; identity; local.
