Abstract

LEMOINE QUINTERO, Frank Angel et al. Analysis of Tourist Attractions and Resources in San Vicente Canton, Ecuador. Rev retos [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.2, pp.133-148. ISSN 2306-9155.

The tourist attractions and resources in San Vicente Canton, Ecuador, were studied and evaluated, following the April 16th, 2016 earthquake. The local land registry for tourist infrastructure, and statistics of attractions and resources acknowledged by the Ministries of Tourism, and Human Development and Housing were used in the study. The data were included in a comparative analysis to define the status of that administrative area. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to ensure objective evaluation of the attractions and resources of the location. Statistical assessment was made, and the best locations for immediate exploitation were identified. Re-classification of tourist attractions into types and subtypes, and hierarchically, was the most outstanding result of this study based on recommendation from an assessment instrument.

Keywords : tourist attractions; tourist resources; hierarchic arrangement; diagnostic; land registry.
