Abstract

QUIROGA GOMEZ, Zoila Madiú; DE DIOS MARTINEZ, Ana  and  PEREZ RANGEL, Mercedes. Demographic Approach in Territorial Planning. Rev retos [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.1, pp. 69-85. ISSN 2306-9155.

This paper provides arguments that support the need for implementation of a demographic approach as part of territorial planning in Cuban municipalities, during the process of land-use planning, an issue that has produced favorable and unfavorable criteria. The behavior of demographic dynamics was taken into consideration. The demographic approach is based on interactions among demographic, economic, and social dynamics. This perspective requires variables and indicators that can be applied in the process of urban territorial planning in a municipality, which will contribute to its optimization. The methods used in this study were the dialectical and the structural equation methods, as well as analysis of the system of demographic approach indicators. A proposal directed to territorial planning was made as part of an essential component of the municipal planning system.

Keywords : land-use planning; demographic approach; territorial planning; demographic dynamics.
