The article takes as a reference point the essay "Seven theses misconceptions about Latin America" by Rodolfo Stavenhagen and development as a central element analysis. It starts from the idea that this is an objective process, which is subject to all natural or social phenomenon. Several questions related to the theme of development as objective phenomenon itself open; the hegemonic concept or idea it was formed in modernity; the prospect for a rational development in Latin America; and contributing ideas Rodolfo Stavenhagen this rational perspective of Latin American development.
