Abstract

MENDILUZA DIAZ, Diana  and  JIMENEZ BARRERA, Yasmani. The Development Theory and its Influence in Latin America. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2018, vol.6, n.1, pp. 22-46. ISSN 2308-0132.

The article makes an analysis of the emergence and evolution of the theory of development as well as the different models that were applied in Latin America from the second half of the last century. Within the analysis can be seen how structuralism was instituted as an alternative and the validity of the theory of dependence in the region. He concludes that although with some with ruptures and continuities, neostructuralism preserves the originality of the Latin American theory of development.

Keywords : economic development; development theory; Latin America.
