Abstract

MARTINEZ RODRIGUEZ, Dianelkys. The Cultural Dimension of Development: its Conception in Community Work. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2018, vol.6, n.1, pp. 287-306. ISSN 2308-0132.

The article addresses the relationship between the concept of "cultural dimension of development" and community work. The theoretical analysis shown is part of the study of official documents of international organizations of the United Nations. The antecedents and definition of the concept that is analyzed are presented, together with other concepts such as: culture, development and cultural development. The relationship between the previous concepts and community work is theorized, which also reviews antecedents and links with sociocultural animation and traditional knowledge. The reflections shown in the text allow us to conclude that culture is the central axis for changes in a community and popular knowledge is the basic cell of community work.
