Abstract

This paper examines the contributions to Cuba and some other countries’ heritage, made by two neighborhoods which are extensions of the Vedado district of Havana, the capital of the Republic of Cuba, but with their own distinguishing character due to their distinct background. Last year 2017 was their seventieth anniversary, which has been virtually ignored and therefore it was formulated as the research problem for this investigation. The results obtained were presented only at the VII Symposium on Havana History «Emilio Roig de Leuchsenring», held by the provincial branch of the Association of Cuban Historians in Havana. Several methods were used in combination, above all the historical-logical, and the comparative method, whereby identities of these neighborhoods were highlighted which arouse interest in other countries due to the importance of both communities. However, such importance must receive due attention in Cuba first.
