This article is a study of the state of the art on the process of monitoring graduates, proposing the studies and methodologies used by various institutions and organizations. In addition, the results of a self-diagnosis of the process of monitoring graduates made in the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (FIME) of the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (UANL), Mexico, are shown. The results show that the studies and the monitoring of graduates are a tool that supports the evaluation processes to obtain information about the academic functions. In addition, the self-diagnosis indicates the need to strengthen and enhance the ongoing process of tracking graduates who performed at FIME.
