Abstract
RAMOS OJEDA, Daliana. Understanding the Social Vulnerability: A Look from its Principal Theorists. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2019, vol.7, n.1, pp. 139-154. Epub Sep 01, 2019. ISSN 2308-0132.
The present article puts the notion of vulnerability in the scope of the analysis, understanding its main theoretical postulates from the Assets, Vulnerability and Structure of Opportunities approach, which understand the social vulnerability as part of a process where assets and opportunities structure shape a social framework in order to achieve well-being. It is a complex, multidimensional approach, associated to conditions of insecurity, helplessness of individuals, households, communities, to confront extreme situations that hinder their upward mobility in specific historical and socioeconomic contexts. In this sense, authors Ruben Kaztman, Carlos H. Filgueira, Roberto Pizarro, Gustavo Busso, Eduardo S. Bustelo, Alberto Minujin, among others, are essential theoretical references.
Keywords : social vulnerability; disability; opportunities; assets; structure of opportunities; welfare.
