Technological development has led to the mass production of electronic devices, which have a negative impact on human health and the environment. The disposal and replacement of devices generates a large amount of electronic waste, which contributes to the accumulation of technological waste around the world, which shows the importance of adopting measures and good practices in the management of such waste. This article presents reflections on the integral management of electronic waste, from an analytical-comparative perspective of several countries, with the purpose of making visible the tension between technological and economic development with environmental sustainability, knowing good practices adopted by Latin American countries that have implemented regulations to prevent negative impact. It is concluded that, to mitigate this damage, the participation of society is required, implement environmental education measures and the creation of specialized centers for the handling and disassembly of electronic waste.
