Abstract

SARDUY HERRERA, Yeisa  and  PENATE LEIVA, Ana Isabel. Education in Human Rights: An Alternative in Order to Prevent Violence in the School´s Context. Thoughts for a Debate. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2022, vol.10, n.1  Epub Apr 01, 2022. ISSN 2308-0132.

The connotation of the school space as one of the areas recognized as a guarantor of human rights is a vital idea and is closely related to the act of educating in ethical and moral values such as respect, tolerance, the eradication of violence, participation and social inclusion. For its part, violence, as a complex and multifactorial social phenomenon, is on the rise every day and generates unsafe and unharmonious environments, especially for infants, adolescents and young people. By following this logic and assuming these notions as guiding axes, this article deals with education as a universal human right, which, despite legal guarantees, is violated and to which millions of people in the world do not have access. Likewise, it approaches the manifestations of violence that occur in educational contexts and how, from its conception, human rights education could be a tool in its prevention, as it provides the subjects with modeling norms of their system of relationships, based on dialogue and respect for the other.

Keywords : rights education; young people; violence; school context.
