The education of values in university students constitutes, in the world and in Cuba, a systematic and intentional process, that should put emphasis on the formation and development of the personality of our university students. For this reason, in this article, the Cuban university is reflected from the conditions in which it finds itself today. Reference is made to the role and relationship of the student to society, and the task they have in relation to a better future. The objectives were: identify the foundations of a contextualized proposal to today's Cuba, for the formation of values and determine actions and pedagogical recommendations for the development of values in university students. In it, the thesis that the future graduate is formed on the basis of their experiences is highlighted and the formative role of all university activity. The important role of teachers in the interest of achieving comprehensive training is also highlighted, articulating scientific knowledge with its social transcendence. As a fundamental conclusion, we arrive at the idea that the process of formation of values in the Cuban university is not limited to the interaction in the classroom, nor to the management of the contents of the social and humanistic sciences, and it must be materialized through actions that permeate the curricular, the extracurricular, the extension, the investigative, the occupational and the entire university life. .
