Abstract

SOLER, Yanela  and  RIVERO, Jessica. A leader: two histories. The discourse of the Venezuelan newspapers Correo del Orinoco and El Universal around Hugo Chavez's decease. ARCIC [online]. 2017, vol.6, n.12, pp.111-129. ISSN 2411-9970.

The article is conducting a study of journalistic discourse printed newspapers Correo del Orinoco and El Universal around the death of Hugo Chavez, between 6 and 12 March 2013. On the basis of critical discourse analysis, it is compares the features of the construction of communicative products published in both newspapers, and identifies the main discursive strategies. This will take into account the characteristics of the socio-political context of Venezuela that affect in the discursive construction of journalism in that country. The research gives an account of the existing media polarization in Venezuelan society.
