Abstract

The gender approach in the contents of the printed media it has to be analyzed from a comprehensive perspective that can include the sociology of the broadcasters and the journalistic discourse in order to characterize the phenomenon in its entirety. The study aims to denature, from a theoretical point of view, the hierarchical character attributed to the relationship between genders and demonstrate that male or female models are social constructions. The methodology used was the bibliographic analysis, with the purpose of explaining the gender category within the perspective that defines it. For the study, authors were used that offer the theoretical foundation on the subject matter treated. The objective of the study determined the importance of the gender approach in sports practiced by women to reveal sexist stereotypes and the representation of traditional female and male roles.
