Abstract

HERNANDEZ CASTRO, Junior  and  CALZADILLA RODRIGUEZ, Iraida. Retrospective journalism in Cuban rock history rescue. ARCIC [online]. 2021, vol.10, n.26, pp. 164-172.  Epub Aug 01, 2021. ISSN 2411-9970.

Despite of its six decades of presence in Cuba, rock music still remains as one of the lesser studied cultural forms of expressions in the country. With a small amount of bibliographic references, there also exists historical prejudices, official inattention and discussions about its belonging or not to the Cuban culture. In that context, this paper proposes to determinate how the instruments of retrospective interpretative journalism can help to the historical rescue of Cuban rock music. By means of testimonies and thoughts of the main characters, some characteristics, strengths, limitations and problems of the Cuban movement are determined. These features can improve the cultural memory of the Cuban nation and they can be useful for making newest and more inclusive cultural policies.

Keywords : retrospective journalism; retrospective interpretative interview; cuban rock music; culture.
