Abstract

Trajectories, emergencies and challenges in Communication Research in Latin America. ARCIC [online]. 2021, vol.10, n.26, pp. 248-274.  Epub Aug 01, 2021. ISSN 2411-9970.

The panel presented below was held within the framework of the second Dialogues to the South meeting, an iniciative of the Latin American Association of Communication Researchers (ALAIC), in an attempt to generate common reflections on core issues in the field of communication in Latin America and the Caribbean. The event featured with Ph.D. Eliseo Colón as moderator, and as panelist Ph.D. Delia Crovi Druetta, Ph.D. Raúl Fuentes Navarro and Ph.D. Raúl Trejo Delarbre. Ph.D. Delia Crovi highlighted the significance of ALAIC as a scientific reference for communication in the region; Ph.D. Raúl Fuentes recognized the value of regional meetings in integrating theoretical-methodological approaches, currents and proposals; and Ph.D. Raúl Trejo took up the debate around the epistemology of communication. The final words of Ph.D. Eliseo Colón, invite you to think about the challenges that communication studies have in Latin America and the Caribbean, based on knowing the history, the new forms of communication and the areas of convergence and divergence to which the field of study is exposed.
