Abstract
RODRIGUEZ MARTINEZ, Yanetsys and PEREZ MARQUES, Celia María. Personal identity in a spontaneous conversation of a corpus of oral discourse from Santiago de Cuba. ARCIC [online]. 2022, vol.11, n.29, pp. 165-179. Epub Aug 01, 2022. ISSN 2411-9970.
Linguistic and conversational choices can be seen as acts of identity where stylistic variation is not simply a reflection of interactive situations, but one of the speaker's strategic means to activate potential meaning and thus build dimensions of identity (Van Dijk, 1999), that are relevant at different points of the discursive sequentiality. The objective of the article is to characterize the personal identity in a spontaneous conversation as the basis of the family culture of Santiago de Cuba, a spontaneous conversation that belongs to the Corpus of Colloquial Spanish of Santiago de Cuba (CORPUSAN), a corpus of colloquial Spanish from Santiago de Cuba, was chosen. Cuba that is currently being built at the Universidad de Oriente, in which secret recording is used as a technique for the collection of conversations. It was decided to use this conversation because it takes place in a family context where female speakers are involved and there is an affiliation (mother - daughter) (mother - friend). The main method used was conversation analysis. The study allowed us to corroborate that in spontaneous conversation the individual uses strategies that allow him to establish relationships of power and familiarity. In addition, it made it possible to identify the features that characterize the identity of the participants. CORPUSAN constitutes a rich source of information to develop future studies on personal identity as a reflection of family culture, which at the same time accounts for the cultural and ethical values of the people of Santiago.
