Abstract

Introduction:

the new coronavirus epidemic was reported in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and declared an international emergency by the World Health Organization in March; it progressed to a pandemic and is associated with high morbidity and mortality.

Case report:

the first two clinical cases of adolescents, both female, from the Municipality of Camajuaní, were diagnosed as positive for the coronavirus. An updated review of the subject and of the different treatment options was carried out. Both patients were treated with oseltamivir and azithromycin according to the protocol in force at the time of diagnosis. The patients presented polymerase chain reaction with negative reverse transcriptase for the virus 15 days after the onset of symptoms.

Conclusions:

in both cases, non-specific manifestations were found and high respiratory symptoms were predominant, there was a positive epidemiological history for previously confirmed cases and they presented satisfactory evolution without complications.
