HERNANDEZ FIGUEIRAS, Miladys Eladia; LUIS MEDINA, Leydis  and  MADRIGAL MORA, Liovesky. Characterization of reproductive risk at women in childbearing age. Acta méd centro [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.2, pp. 301-310.  Epub June 30, 2022. ISSN 2709-7927.

Introduction:

preconceptional reproductive risk applies to non-pregnant women of reproductive age who, according to the presence of conditions or risk factors, have an increased probability of suffering damage to their health or the health of their future child if they were to become involved in the reproductive process. There are no quantitative scientific works on the theoretical-methodological reference on the subject.

Objective:

to characterize the preconceptional risk of women of childbearing age.

Methods:

a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on the behavior of preconceptional reproductive risk in women of childbearing age in the 14 Family Doctor's Offices that cover the Health Area of the Polyclinic of Venegas in the period from November 2018 to November 2019. The universe is composed of 2 362 females representing 42.6% of the female population dispensed in the ages between 15 and 49 years.

Results:

the age over 35 years is the predominant age among women in the area, so the insertion of patients in the Family Planning Consultation should be increased because it is very low.

Conclusions:

the number of women attending the family planning consultation is low, so a strategy should be implemented to increase the knowledge about this consultation and a higher attendance.

Keywords : preconceptional risk; childbearing age; family planning.
