Abstract

CARBALLO GUERRA, Caridad et al. Chemical desinfection of Pedilanthus tithymaloides L. Poit. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 2005, vol.10, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1028-4796.

The paper presents a desinfecting method of vegetable material from Pedilanthus tithymaloides L. Poit (Itamo real). The procedure consists of washing of material with drinking water and further immersion into 2 % sodium hypochlorite for five minutes. The microbiological analysis showed that the bacterial, fungi, E.coli and other enterobacteria count was kept within allowable limits. Physical and chemical indicators of washing and desinfection of the samples were kept within the values set by the standards, both at lab and scaling level. It may be concluded that the explained procedure is convenient to prevent microbiological contamination and assure the vegetable material quality.

Keywords : Chemical disinfection; Pedilanthus tithymaloides L. Poit.,; sodium hypochlorite.
